Low-cost airlines have cheap flights to Grenoble Airport (GNB) for fast access and easy transfers to French winter sport resorts and ski slopes in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Skiers mostly fly to the modern international airports in Lyon or Geneva when traveling to the French Alpine winter sport resorts in the Rhone-Alps (Rhône-Alpes) region. However, some budget airlines including Ryanair and EasyJet have flights to Grenoble Airport (GNB), which is slightly closer to many ski slopes allowing for shorter transfer times.

Grenoble Airport (Aéroport de Grenoble-Isère) is mostly used during the winter season. In addition to charter flights, regular flights are available on several low-cost airlines with British travelers particularly well catered for. Most flights are on Saturdays when the small airport can become very crowded.

  • Airport transfer services are more limited from Grenoble Airport than from Lyon or Geneva making early reservations of ground transportation advisable.

Cheap Flights to Grenoble Airport on Low-Cost Airline Ryanair

Low-cost airline Ryanair is the only carrier with year round flights to Grenoble Airport (GNB). In summer, Ryanair flies four times per week from London-Stansted (STN) and twice weekly from Dublin (DUB) to Grenoble (GNB).

In winter, the number of Ryanair flights increases dramatically to bring skiers mostly from Great Britain to ski slopes in the French Alps. Ryanair flies at least daily from London-Stansted (STN) and four times per week from Dublin (DUB) to Grenoble. On Saturdays, Ryanair also has flights to Grenoble from Birmingham (BHX), Bristol (BRS), Brussels-Charleroi (CRL), East Midlands (EMA), Edinburgh (EDI), Glasgow (PIK), Kerry (KIR), Liverpool (LPL), and Stockholm-Skavsta (NYO).

  • Regular low-cost airline travelers will not be surprised that Ryanair manages to work “Lyon” into Grenoble’s airport name.

Cheap Flights to Grenoble Airport on Low-Cost Airline EasyJet

Low-cost airline EasyJet flies to Grenoble Airport (GNB) during the winter season only. EasyJet has at least daily flights from London-Gatwick (LGW) and twice daily on weekends. On weekends, EasyJet also flies to Grenoble (GNB) from London-Luton (LTN), Bristol (BRS), and Birmingham (BHX).

  • EasyJet has a large number of flights year round to both Lyon (LYS) and Geneva (GVA) airports.

Cheap Flights to Grenoble Airport on Further Low-Cost Airlines

Apart from Ryanair and EasyJet, a few further budget airlines have winter flights to Grenoble Airport (GNB). Once again, most flights are on Saturday only.

  • Thomsonfly flies to Grenoble from Bournemouth (BOH).
  • Air Southwest brings most British skiers to Grenoble from Newquay (NQY) and Plymouth (PLH).
  • Transavia flies to Grenoble four times per week from Rotterdam (RTM).
  • Wizzair and Centralwings compete on the Grenoble-Warsaw route each Saturday.

Ground transportation to Grenoble Airport is well organized but somewhat limited making early reservations advisable. When comparing prices, also consider flights to other regional airports such as Annecy (NCY) and Chambéry (CMF). However, many travelers, especially those unfamiliar with the Rhône-Alpes region may find flying to Lyon or Geneva easier options.
